TEN ACCENT CHAIRS OF THE MOMENT

There is a lot of content in an accent chair - it can be treated as a sculpture or used as a zoning tool. I often use it to define the space and mark a scenario point. Everyone’s lifestyle is different, whether you host cocktail parties and need a more structured arrangement to create different seating zones, or there is some negative space in your bedroom,  and you love to snuggle with a book. There is a chair for anything.

The below round-up includes the most electrifying accent chairs that entice our senses with original form and materials. Each one of them is quite unique; there is a trendy rattan, classy leather, crafted wood, postmodern exaggerated shapes or fat furniture as some call it, and geometry defining gravity.

1. FAT LOUNGE CHAIR

Produced by Tom Dixon

The extreme simplicity of the components is a testament to form following function, whilst maintaining a humorous silhouette and a reductionist aesthetic. Quite a balancing act!

3. THE MADDA

Is a contemporary interpretation of the classic club chair. The metal base fully wraps around the chair, as if to squeeze it into it's plump and comfortable upper seating area.

4. FAUTEUIL DE SALON

Designed by Jean Prouvé, 1939

Produced By Vitra

Is a typical example of the distinctive structural aesthetic of his designs. The armchair's understated character suits a wide variety of interiors, and its ample upholstery and oiled, solid wood armrests emanate inviting comfort.

6. N. 200

Designed by Michael Anastassiades

Produced by GTV

The piece provides a sophisticated expression of the GTV style and its deep vocation for design innovation. The seat represents the perfect combination of the history of the brand and the tradition of bent wood, whose roots stretch back into design culture for over two centuries.

7. FLY SC1

Designed By Space Copenhagen

Produced By &Tradition.

Pushing the idea of lounging to its fullest, Fly is a series that allows the user to sit, lie, rest, and relax. Unlike many of the sofas and easy chairs in Scandinavian design history, Fly does not impose any particular posture onto the sitter. The seat itself is optimised for comfort, with loose cushions for the back that can be arranged according to the user’s own needs.

8. ROLY POLY

Designed by Faye Toogood

Produced by Driade

9. MASCULO LOUNGE CHAIR

Designed by Gamfratesi

Produced by Gubi

The perfect synergy is found between the Italian playfulness, sculptural and artistic aesthetics and the Danish sense for craftsmanship, detailing and refinement of form. The almost overly large backrest, which call to mind a bull, appears to float in the air and challenge all senses. In contrast, the light frame makes the chair almost sculptural and exciting to the eye.

GUESTS ARE HERE, AND THEY ARE STAYING

Ahh, the cheery times of excitement and togetherness!

With the holidays fast approaching, you might need some extra space for friends and family. Think all the food consumed and nonsense said, families, need space.

Unless you have a fully set guest suite, most likely, you are recycling your other spaces to become temporary guest rooms: home office, den, or even your living room.

Here is the roundup of 10 best sleeper sofas from my Design Library. These pieces get the function and utility while still stylish and on point. Upholstery options or not, there is a pick of any style and budget.

HELLO AND WELCOME

How many options are too many? When it comes to architecture and interior design for most people, it’s frustrating to deal with an overload of options that is out there.  Decisions need to be made — a lot of them.

Designers, however, are used to swimming in the pool of choice, always on the hunt for that one and only perfect piece. Don’t worry — we don’t suffer; we have an eye and skill for that.  Like a puzzle, we pull things together to create one of a kind unique spaces.

For each project, I am diligently fine combing vendor inventories to find what makes an impact.  As you can imagine, there has been an accumulation of really nice specimens for any space and purpose — a variety of styles that have one thing in common - good design.

My Design Library includes a range of decorative materials like wallpaper, paint, tiles, as well as the selection of furniture and decor pieces.

I am pleased to share my vision and aesthetics in a series of posts revealing my Design Library.

Cheers, Alexandra
